Dr. Hornsby attended medical school and a medical internship at The University of Tennessee Medical School, completed his Radiology Residency at Mount Sinai, and Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Douglas N. Hornsby completed a J. Rutherford internship through the American College of Radiology.

Over the course of his career in health care and medicine, Dr. Douglas Hornsby served 18 years as president of Digital Radiology founded while at Harvard. and three years as chair of the Department of Radiology at South Shore Hospital in Miami Beach. .He is the current chair of Radiology at Douglas Gardens Hospital in Miami. He has also served on numerous boards and councils of organizations such as the Florida Board of Medicine, Florida Medical Association, the Florida Radiological Society. The Florida Radiological Society has presented the Douglas N. Hornsby, Leadership Award since 2004. Dr. Hornsby is the current President of The Florida Radiological Society. For the past 18 years, Dr. Hornsby has overseen the delivery of radiology services in multiple states as the president of Digital Radiology owner of multiple free-standing medical imaging centers in Florida and Georgia.

Dr. Hornsby is a Quaker and served as an unarmed combet medic in Viet Nam was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Air Medal, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
